| About the Lamp Collection The collection feature ceramic bases that use a traditional Asian firing technique dating back to the 5th century, wood-fired in an anagama kiln. Each piece tells it's own story of the firing process through effects of the flames hitting the ware and incidental deposits of flying ash, creating one-of-a-kind surfaces. The firing process is known for it's varied texture and finish on the clay surface, and the laborious process it takes to achieve their appearance. With a team of artisans it takes three days to load the kiln, six days of tending the wood-fire 24/7 to reach and maintain a 2400 degree F temperature. And then, three weeks to cool. Each piece reflects it's own journey in the kiln, and is one of a kind. This collection includes a "Pick of the Litter" selection. Pick of the Litter is an expression used when pieces are unloaded from the kiln that had exceptional placement within the kiln, and display highly unique markings. Prices and dimensions include lutron dimmer and lampshade. |
